Coriolis Wind is developing a new wind energy system that challenges many of the basic paradigms in the industry. The Coriolis solution is highly efficient in the lower wind speed environments common to distributed wind sites and designed to be easier to manufacture, transport, install and maintain than traditional wind turbines available today. Built from the ground up for this challenging market, Coriolis’ family of wind systems will open up the large market opportunity for renewable energy at commercial, industrial and government sites.
In 2007, the Company was initiated and seed funded
by Precede Technologies, an entrepreneurship and investment firm
dedicated to the commercialization of advanced technologies in alternative
energy. Precede’s principals, Dr. Rafi Gidron and Orni Petruschka,
have founded and led multiple successful companies including Scorpio
Communications (acquired by U.S. Robotics in 1996) and Chromatis
Networks (acquired by Lucent in 2000). They co-founded Coriolis with
Dr. Shuki Sheinman, an innovator and inventor with more than 20 years
in the wind industry including leadership of wind turbine research
at the Israeli Ministry of Energy. The company is now supported by
Pitango Venture Capital, one of the largest venture capital firms
in Israel.
